FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE - March 20, 2020
FAR WEST SKI ASSOCIATION
2020 Convention Update
The Far West Ski Association Board of Trustees, Convention Coordinator and Travel VP’s have been holding conference call meetings to discuss the probability of holding our Annual Convention scheduled for May 28 – 31 in Portland, Oregon, later this year. We are one of many clients trying to shuffle their conferences so at this point we are in a “wait and see” mode.
Based on current government actions and estimates, we do not believe we will be able to hold our event as scheduled in May. We are all monitoring the guidelines from the White House, the CDC, and the Oregon Governor to have the most up-to-date information so that we can finally set a date when it is safe, and when people can meet in groups of more than 10.
The health and safety of our members, families, ski area employees and our communities far outweigh the risk of continuing to spread the COVID-19 virus.
This pandemic affects us all and we are all in this together. We urge you to do your part and comply with the “Social Distancing” to help slow the exponential spread of the virus. With your help, we can “Flatten the Curve”.
On behalf of Far West Ski Association's team, we sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this uncertainty may be causing you. We very much appreciate and thank you for your patience and understanding. Please stay tuned. We will get the word out to you just as soon as we know what is happening and when.
FWSA is one of the country’s largest ski associations in the United States, now with ten active councils representing more than 53,000 skiers and boarders from more than 160 clubs in twelve western states – Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Nevada, Oregon, South Dakota, Utah, Washington and Wyoming.
