Mission

Central Council family skis with the kids and grandkids in Bad Gastein with Far West.

Fire & Ice Ski Club (BAC) takes their kids to learn to ski at Squaw Valley.

Water sports fun for the whole family with the Radar River Rats (LAC)

FWSA’s mission is to sustain and grow the sport of snowsports by attracting and building upon the family and youth market. With a focus on short and long-range planning for family and youth involvement, the objective is to develop programs and services that will welcome families and youth into our snowsports organizations.

Strategy and Objectives

Our strategy is to build interest in family ski outings through events hosted at the club, council and the FWSA levels. We will provide the opportunity for the youth/family audience to get familiar with our ski clubs, councils, and FWSA, and the experience and value that we provide. FWSA will support, encourage, and recognize clubs and councils that host youth & family events.  The intent is to build a program that would not disrupt service to our member base that enjoys adult-only activities while ‘growing’ our membership base by including youth and families where appropriate.

Volunteers and Participants Needed

Future programs and services for family members will depend on interest from our membership and availability of volunteers to plan and lead family activities. If you are interested in volunteering to help plan a family or youth event at the FWSA level or through your club or council, please contact the Youth and Family Involvement Chairperson.
