FWSA V.P. International Travel

International travel with the Far West Ski Association (FWSA) is more than a vacation—it is an opportunity to explore the world through skiing, culture, friendship, and adventure. From the moment members arrive in a mountain village, a historic city, or a faraway coastal destination, the experience becomes about much more than the itinerary. It becomes a shared journey with people who enjoy discovery, connection, and active travel.
One of the greatest advantages of traveling with FWSA is the support of experienced travel teams. International trips involve many details—lodging, transportation, group activities, sightseeing options, and coordination across time zones. FWSA helps simplify those logistics so members can focus on enjoying the destination, meeting fellow travelers, and making the most of the experience.
FWSA international travel appeals to a wide range of participants, including:
· Skiers and snowboarders
· Non-skiing companions
· Travelers who enjoy adventure, culture, sightseeing, food, and history
· Members who want organized travel with a social group
· People who prefer group planning instead of arranging everything alone

International trips are not just about the slopes. They often include sightseeing, local cuisine, historic towns, and cultural experiences.
Group travel also makes international destinations feel more approachable. Members can enjoy the independence of exploring new places while still having the comfort of a familiar travel community. Shared meals, group excursions, après-ski gatherings, and casual conversations often become some of the most memorable parts of the trip.

Over the years, FWSA members have traveled to remarkable ski and cultural destinations around the world, including Greece, Provence, Paris, Munich, Prague, Antarctica, Bulgaria, Morocco, India, Africa, Les Trois Vallées, Bad Gastein, Engelberg, Chamonix, Garmisch, Innsbruck, St. Anton, Davos, Portugal, Sölden, Zermatt, Spain, Madonna di Campiglio, Tignes, Val d’Isère, Valle Nevado, and Santiago. Each destination offers its own combination of scenery, history, cuisine, and adventure.
FWSA’s international experiences also extend beyond traditional ski travel. Members have participated in dive trips to destinations such as Fiji, Roatan, Grand Cayman, Cozumel, Little Cayman, the Philippines, Belize, and other internationally recognized dive locations. These programs reflect the association’s broader spirit of adventure and its commitment to offering meaningful travel experiences for members with many interests.

Looking ahead, future international destinations under consideration for 2028 and beyond include Val Gardena, Puglia and Rome, New Zealand, Kitzbühel, Quito, the Galápagos Islands, the Caribbean Islands, Puerto Rico, the Cayman Islands, and other exciting locations. These possibilities show that FWSA international travel continues to evolve, offering members new ways to see the world together.
Whether travelers come for the skiing, the sightseeing, the food, the friendships, or the chance to experience a new culture, an FWSA international trip can turn travel into a lasting memory. It is a way to explore exceptional destinations with the support of an organized program and the camaraderie of people who share a love of adventure.
I have been involved with the FWSA travel program for more than 30 years, and I continue because travel is truly a passion of mine. I enjoy the challenge of bringing each trip together and seeing the joy it brings to our travelers. Every journey reminds me why this program is so special: it brings people together, opens doors to unforgettable places, and creates friendships and memories that last long after the trip has ended.
