Who & What's New For 2013

    Altor to Buy Rossignol
Private equity group Altor is acquiring a majority stake in Rossignol Group from the current owners. The deal values Rossignol at $196 million and is expected to close by this fall. According to reports, Altor plans to expand the Rossignol brand in outerwear, building on its experience in raising values of other well-known clothing outfitters. Once the transaction is complete, Altor will own 80 percent of Rossignol.

    Utah Pass Wars
Vail's newest acquisition, Canyons Resort, is joining the Epic Pass family. The Epic Local Pass offers unlimited days with holiday restrictions at Canyons for $529. For Utah college students, teens and kids, the Canyons Youth Pass, with unlimited access, will go for $429, $299 and $259 respectively. Finally, the Epic Pass, sold for $689 for adults and $359 for kids between 5 and 12, offers unlimited access to all twelve of Vail's resorts, plus five free days at five areas in Europe.

    More Pass News
Following the announcement by Alta, Snowbird, Deer Valley and Park City that each of their season pass holders can enjoy privileges at any of the four areas, Brighton Resort and Solitude teamed up to offer the Big Cottonwood Pass for $999. The joint pass is valid at both resorts with no blackout dates. The areas are connected by the SolBright trail.

Big Sky to Operate Moonlight Basin
Cross Harbor Capital Partners, in partnership with Boyne Resorts, which operates Big Sky Resort, are acquiring Moonlight Basin. The deal is expected to close within the next several weeks. Big Sky will assume operation of Moonlight Basin, which sits on the opposite side of Lone Mountain and is connected to Big Sky via lifts and trails already, and integrate it with Big Sky. The combined area has more than 5,700 skiable acres, 4,350 vertical feet and 23 chairlifts.
